Tapanui

Tapanui School is in the third year of this ICT Contract. In 2008 we became the Lead School as Kim Scott, our facilitator, is based at our school. This has meant that I have taken over the role of Cluster Director for 2008-2009.

2009

Term 4 is our last term in this ICT Cluster and so we are making the most of Kim and her expertise. She is working with our teachers on areas that they still want to upskill in such as Mimio, Using Flip Minos and Movie Maker, Skype, Marven, GImp 2, Audacity, Cartoonist, Photo Sketcher, Shaper Collage, Read Please, Sam Animation, Google Sketch Up 7, Free Mind and Gant.

During Term 3 we worked on Action Research projects. Below are the three areas we researched and our findings.

In Term 2 our junior rooms trialled the 'Reading Eggs' online programme and we have subscribed to this so that juniors can use this reading programme at school as well as at home.

During Term 1 2009 staff have continued to work on using Mimio Interactive Whiteboards and have also chosen to use this for their action research projects. The Mataura Licencing Trust have donated a Smart Board which has been placed in the computer suite and so PD in the use of this interactive whiteboard and its associated support materials has been important.
We have also subscribed to Spellodrome as well as Mathletics and our students are able to use these online programmes at home.
